New Metro Vancouver birding Hotspots.
On April 28, 2018 A new birding hotspot in Metro Vancouver opened up called "Blakeburn Lagoons." Birders are already finding many good birds like Green Herons, Cinnamon Teals and shorebirds such as Solitary Sandpipers, Dunlin, Western and Least Sandpipers and Killdeers.... not to mention all the passerines.
This is great and welcome news, when so much greenspaces are being paved over and developed in the Lower Mainland. This park was restored from old sewage lagoons. You can watch a video about it below:
To access this park go to:
2900 Elbow Place in Port Coquitlam.
Also, in Richmond (at #4Rd and Garden City Rd), a new 137 acre park called "Garden City Lands" is also being developed. This park is not complete yet but will have a bog and ponds for birds as well. You can read more about it HERE.
